Customs Academy leads Erasmus+ “Work4CE” project management improvement in Azerbaijan

 

 

The meeting of the Work4CE consortium project, which is funded under the “Capacity Building in Higher Education” category of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program and implemented in partnership with the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASCCA) and eight higher education institutions, was held at the Academy.

The ASCCA project staff - Elvin Mejidov, manager of International Cooperation, Work4CE ASCCA project manager, and a member of the consortium’s project steering group; Araz Aslanli, head of the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation; Elvin Alirzayev, head of the Department of Specialty Subjects; Babek Abbasov, head of ICT Department; Sevinj Aliyeva, senior specialist of the Lifelong Learning Department, and Leyla Najafova, specialist for International Cooperation; the project staff of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AZUAC) - Isa Muradov, head of the International Programs Sector; Khanlar Ganiyev, the Director of the Practice and Career Center; Sarkhan Talibzade, Director of the ICT Center; Shahmar Rafili, teacher of the Department of Emergency Situations and Life Safety; as well as the project staff of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) - Leyla Naghiyeva, International Projects Coordinator; Nazila Rahimova, head of the Computer Engineering Department of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Management, as well as the other staff members of the faculty - Yashar Hajiyev and Ilgar Rzayev, participated at the meeting initiated and organized by the ASCCA.

During the meeting, Elvin Mejidov spoke about the priority issues of the meeting agenda, the track record of ASCCA Work4Ce project management, peculiar issues in the Work4CE project management in Azerbaijan, as well as the envisaged project activities. Other issues such as opportunities for joint cooperation within the framework of the project, as well as the improvement of the project implementation and management mechanism were also elaborated at the meeting.

Upon the ASCCA initiative and consent with the AZUAC and ASOIU, a local Work4Ce project management hub was established, so as to exchange views on the practices and challenges common to the three partner universities, as well as the common solutions and cooperation possibilities in various work packages.

It should be noted that the Customs Academy represents Azerbaijan in the Work4CE consortium’s regular meetings (executive structure) andensures the quality of project management in Azerbaijan. In addition to the Azerbaijani partner universities,  the- Dortmund University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, Universidad del Pais Vasco in Spain, National University Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, Ternopil National Economic University and Kyiv University of Construction and Architecture in Ukraine are also in the project consortium.

The project started on 15th November of 2020 and will continue till November of 2023. It serves the aim of adjusting the academic education with the digital transformation dynamics of the labor market ("Job 4.0") in various specialties to the qualified personnel with adequate knowledge and skills, especially with digital skills ("Workforce 4.0") required by the fourth industrial revolution ("Industry 4.0").

The ASCCA partnership in the project aims at improving Customs sector digital education capacities and adapting its Customs academic and training programs  with the demands of the "Industry 4.0" and "Workforce 4.0", targeting to serve thedigital transformation and corresponding human resources development at the national Customs service structures, in the long run.
